Grenade
A Grenade Spawn
Grenade Icon
The Grenade is a throwable weapon in Shell Shockers. Using a grenade is a great way to escape enemies and make them go where you want. All classes have this weapon at all times, along with their primary and secondary weapons. The grenade is in its own category; it is not considered a primary or secondary weapon. When joining into a server for the first time, you start with one grenade equipped. That grenade allows you to use the default skin it comes with on any made account or not logged in account. There are currently 91 grenades (this information could be outdated and can be changed during the next updates).
To throw a grenade, press or hold Q (unless you've changed it in settings). The longer you hold your grenade button, the further it will go. You cannot explode yourself for holding the grenade button for too long, but you can kill yourself with the grenade if you throw the grenade and stay too close to it. The default setting for grenade is Q but if desired, it can be changed in settings/game settings. To cancel a grenade you can press F to melee or left mouse button to fire (if default settings are applied).
Grenade Holding Full Ammunition
Grenades spawn randomly throughout the map on solid blocks, similar to the way ammo cartons spawn. Grenades can be picked up by players by walking over them, causing the player to collect them (a small sound will accompany you picking up the grenade). This grenade will be added to the grenade store for a maximum of three stored grenades per player at one time. If the player dies with no grenades, they will respawn with one grenade equipped as always. However, if the player dies with more than 1 grenade, they will respawn with them, so long as they are not thrown yet.
A grenade will explode three seconds after it is thrown, by default making the sound of a chicken clucking until it detonates with a loud chicken-like 'squawk' leaving a smoke cloud that later disappears (Premium grenades obtained through buying them in the shop, bundles or being a VIP member will have different sound and smoke effects). Players near the explosion will be either killed or damaged, depending on how close they were, and the amount of health they had before. Different grenade skins all do the same damage.
Originally, the grenade was green with a gray top. In Version 0.37 (released January 2021) the grenade's look became customizable with skins from the shop. In Version 0.38, customized grenade explosion sounds and effect particles were added to certain skins, compared to the standard black smoke and cluck sound. These skins were available for players in the VIP club, along with a VIP default called the Holy Hand Grenade. Some of these grenades include the Bloodnade (Bloodonade) and the Skullnade (Skullnado). These grenades are also always found in the Egg Shack, and cost $5-10 for non-VIP Members. As of Version 0.40.0, players signing into an account on the Shell Shockers mobile app would receive the smartphone grenade, a grenade with an electronic explosion sound and emoji faces. There is also The Chickaletta grenade, where you can get it for free while playing. This item could also be bought in shop for 1250 Golden Eggs in Shop and it does not give you any special effects when exploding.
The color flash of a grenade right before detonation is yellow. You can be harmed or killed with your own grenade in all four Gamemodes. However in team game modes, a grenade cannot harm or kill teammates on the thrower's team. The grenade will flash yellow even if you use a VIP Grenade. In team-based game modes, when a grenade is thrown—whether by an ally from your own team or an opponent from the rival team—the flash emitted just before detonation will take on the color associated with the team of the player who launched it. This visual cue helps players quickly discern whether the incoming explosive is from a friendly or an adversarial source, enhancing situational awareness during gameplay.

Gameplay Tips
- The grenade can be used by players when the enemy to too far or is damaged, so they can finish them off without having to directly combat against them.
- When escaping from a player, the escaping player can put a grenade right on the ground as they are moving, or slightly in front. In this case, the opponent who is chasing the escaping player will be unable to keep chasing or the grenade will blow up on them. It is important to have game-sense of when the grenade will blow up in these scenarios.
- A good tip is to use the grenade when two people are trying to kill each other. In that scenario, players will both be distracted, and may not notice the grenade. It is even possible to get a double-kill. When you see a grenade being detonated, try to move away from it to avoid taking damage. Listen carefully to the in-game sounds, and if you hear the clucking of a grenade, run. If you're trying to get away from someone, you can throw a grenade behind you to deter them from following you. If there is a ladder near by, you can climb that ladder and throw a grenade down to slow them down. Make sure that they are far away enough so that they won’t get to the ladder before the grenade detonates. When being chased down a ladder, it is good to drop a grenade at the bottom of the ladder so that your hunter might explode while coming down the ladder.
- It is also used a lot in the King of the Coop mode, where players throw grenades in the Coop, hoping to damage, force people out of the coop, or potentially kill some people on the enemy team before coming to fight themselves and takeover the coop.
- In player versus player duels, grenades can be very helpful for identifying where your opponent is (due to the audible cracking noise if they are hit by the grenade) or making sure your opponent is not where you threw the grenade.
- The grenade can be bounced off walls and stairs, so sometimes it might be a good idea to bounce it off a wall or stair to try and hit a target who is hiding behind a wall without peeking yourself.
- When in a 1v1 you can use grenades to force the opponent into positions they don't want to be in. Suppose they are hiding behind a wall, you want to throw a grenade over the wall and force your opponent to jump away from the grenade into open space which will give you a golden opportunity to kill them as they will be trying to get away from the grenade.
- If you're being chased by another player, a good idea is to bounce the grenade off a wall so they scramble away giving you a opportunity to run.
- The grenade item is also very useful in competitive games. You can use it to check areas on the map for players, and giving yourself the positional advantage by putting the enemies into a bad position.
- In addition, you need to guess when to throw the grenade, and in which direction for the grenade to land where you want and deal the greatest damage. The sense of it's trajectory and the grenades movement comes with time. Throwing grenades from weird angles can catch players off guard resulting in a kill.
- By using the phone grenade, you can have a sound-bait. (Although, this is dangerous when you are simply in a 1v1 or whilst hide-killing).
- Sound signaling to find you opponents position has an opposite as well. When a grenade has a straight trajectory, meaning it didn't bounce off any walls, you can discern where the grenade was thrown from and estimate the relative position of your opponent.
- One slightly traitorous use of grenades can occur in team game modes when your team has more people than the other team. Simply throw grenades at a clump of your team mates(this is especially useful in King of the Coop as oftentimes there will be 3-4 people on the coop) and switching teams before they detonate. Your teammates are unlikely to move since they believe their teammate, you, threw the grenade and they will be unharmed by it. Since you switched teams, however, you are now their enemy and your grenades have the capacity to kill them.
- For Crackshot users, a grenade is really helpful when in a Corner situation. In many cases, a player may have cornered someone in the map, where an opponent is right behind a wall. They cannot move, or they come within the Crackshot user's view and may get kill. Releasing a grenade here would result in the opponent player being forced to move out of the corner or they would die. Here, a Crackshot user would be able to kill them.
