Road is a map in Shell Shockers. It is a smaller capacity map on Shell Shockers, with 14 players allowed in a public match. It is a mid-size map, with room for many classes to combat each other. It is one of the most feature-rich maps in the game, with a variety of bridges, high grounds, buildings, and hidden passages. The map is symmetrical.
Features
Towers
Each side of the map has two identical structures. These structures are made to resemble houses and shops. They can be accessed by ladders and stairs. Behind the towers are two rows of trees that can be accessed by one box. The ground ladders take the player to a platform with another ladder. The other ladder will take the player to the top platform, with boxes providing cover for people on the top. Each pinnacle is accessible by horizontal bridges spanning one team's side. On either side, there is also a bridge connecting the two sides. This area is a common place for long-range weapon players to camp and kill. If a player is camping here, they must watch out for players on the other structure. Other players could be on the ground or maybe behind you.
Tunnels
On either side of the middle tower of the base is a tunnel entrance. There are two tunnel entrances, which run to either base. These narrow passages are connected by one large square in the middle. This is a common way players infiltrate the other side in team mode, and the tunnel is a frequent location of intense fights. These places are really good for Whipper and Scrambler users since there is less movement for opposing eggs to go to. The drawbacks for Crackshot users are that if you are not paying close attention to players behind you, other players can sneak up and possibly kill you.
Road
The road in this map is the boundary between the two bases and runs through the whole map without any changes in elevation. This road resembles a typical road, marked with appropriate lines and such. This area has no immediate cover with the exception of the boxes on either side of the extreme points of the road. Consequently, this passage is difficult to cross and is often abandoned for the safety and cover of the bridges, where one can easily jump down to hospitable cover. This area has a lot of ammunition.
Tactics
One of the weapons that players used in Road is Crackshot. If you are opened wide, your chance is that you will get killed by other players by sniping at you. When you are in the top floor of each building, after a sound of the Crackshot is heard, hide and wait for the perfect moment for your opponent to re-appear again. There are boxes that are perfect spots for you to protect against yourself, but at some points, if you don't hide it fully, you will likely to get damaged at some points.
If you are in the road to collect more ammos, you will need to strafe in the order to trick the opponents. Try tricking the opponents by strafing the sight of your opponents by jumping and moving in a unpredictable manner to collect ammos.
The best chance for you to protect and hide was both the ends and the tunnel (sometimes), although some eggs will find you and shoot you instantly.
If a player hides on a tree, you will to consider yourself with these knowledge:
- Did the player moved slightly? (For example: turning around to shoot with snipers).
- Does the egg move a bit?
If the egg faces in direction of you and see a bullet, dodge. This is the best chance for you to understand the location of the egg. If it doesn't, guess which tree they are hiding and SHOOT IT. You will get lucky if you guess which player they are hiding. An instant kill would give you if you have the Scrambler on your hand or luckily if a grenade lands onto the player's area.
Trivia
- It is possible to get onto the trees behind the towers. Players must stand on the edge of the house (with chimney) and jump off. When done right, you hover over the trees. It's a perfect spot to camp, and drive people crazy!
- In Captula the Spatula mode, if you find your team isn't playing that well, and aren't able to protect the spatula strongly then the best idea is to keep the spatula on the trees. If the spatula (no egg with it) remains on the trees it will be pretty hard for the other team to get it; and at least your last score remains at the top.
- During the Halloween updates in 2023 and 2024, the map received a makeover; The map got remodeled and Halloween themed blocks/features were added.
- A major feature added was: a huge opening in the center of the street. This opening was to the bunker tunnels beneath the houses.
