Scales is a map in Shell Shockers. It was released on January 17th, 2022, as part of the 2022 January Mid-Month Update, Version 0.42.2. It is an 18 player map created with a Desert Theme with a space skybox. It is currently in private map pool updated in Version 0.48.5.

Features

The maps is almost asymmetrical expect for a few bridges and decorations here and there. The map is good for all weapons as there are sniper towers and the ground is a good place for close-range weapons. There are many things to use as cover. Because of the map's diversity, it is a common pick for game modes like Capture The Spatula and King of the Coop. Scales has a width of 16 tiles, a depth of 16 tiles, and a maximum height of 11 tiles and uses the moonbase skybox. It has a fog density of 0.03 with a light red color.

Center Tower

The center tower is the most iconic/key figure of Scales. It is a huge building with a spiral staircase on the exterior, leading all the way up to the top. On two levels, there are bridges connecting other towers to it. Players can access the tower in an easier way, without going up the long staircase. Players at the top of the middle tower have an advantage over the others. They can snipe, spawn-kill, and demolish their enemies a lot quicker since they have a good view of the entire map. As such, this is an excellent place for Long-Range players, specifically, Crackshot and Free Ranger players.

Corner Towers

Similarly, to Four Quarters, there are four bases on the outskirts of the map. Two towers connect to the huge tower in the middle. The other two are used for camping as well as hiding from players.

Tactics

• In Captula the Spatula gamemode, a good place to hold the spatula is at the top of the center tower. Players can camp there, with long-range weapons (Crackshot, RPEGG, Free Ranger).
  • The floor right beneath the top platform has a little hiding corner. It's suggested to stay there with a close range weapon (Scrambler, Whipper), so you can kill players who are about to reach the top.
• In King of the Coop gamemode, the coop is occasionally at the top floor. Whichever team can reach this coop the quickest, usually wins that coop since they can control, attack and defend players coming up the stairs, and have the advantage.
  • Further, RPEGG, one of the best weapons in this gamemode, can have little effect on this coop. This applied for Free Ranger and Crackshot players as well if the player on the coop is positioned and moving correctly.
• In King of the Coop gamemode, the RPEGG is arguably the best weapon in the map due to the many height advantages the map offers.

• This map is good for "King of the Skies" - a gamemode played on many Content Creators on streams.
  • Another map is Sky Scratcher.
• Scales "Eggsmas" was added to the game in December of 2022, 2023 and 2024.
